Collection: Flowers
I think I started drawing and painting flowers in this season to cheer myself up. Blooms to lift spirits breaking under the strike of COVID. An offering of beauty before death and unrest. Flowers in my home as a point of connection and relational refreshment. As I witnessed violence played out on the streets - the unjust murder of black folks who look like my best friends - flowers were assigned to my canvases as memorial. A protest of evil ugliness, responding with the loveliest fruit of the earth. Flora as a form of self care. Living plants surrounding me like a spa day at home. Paint and paper displaying color and craft, a reminder that not all is bad. There is beauty that grows from the garbage. Life will forever outlive destruction
